1. A magistrate court sitting in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital, at the weekend remanded two apprentices, Olupina Dotun, 20, and Babalola Olaniyi 19, in prison custody for allegedly raping a 16-year old girl. Police prosecutor, Inspector Caleb Leranmo, told the court that Dotun and Olaniyi committed the offences on August 27, 2019 at Omuo-Oke, Ekiti State.

2. Three students of the Ondo State School of Health Technology, Akure, were on Monday, arraigned before a magistrates’ court sitting in the state capital for alleged rape and other crimes.
The accused persons are Damilola Adeboboye, Blessing Michael and Charles Eyitayo. The trio were arrested by the men of the state police command last week for allegedly gang-raping a female student of the institution at the Barrister Lodge, Olofinlade Layout, Oda Road, Akure.
Prior to the incident, the accused persons were also alleged to have raped a student of the Federal University of Technology, Akure, and attempted to have carnal knowledge of another victim.

This is a very good development! I hope, in addition to apprehending the rapists, we put in deliberate measures to help rape victims recover too. It gladdens my heart when the long arm of the law catches up with rapists like this. Few things gladden my heart more. Let's be prosecuting the them one after the other this way, so existing and would-be rapists will get the memo that it's no longer business as usual.
Juveniles left their studies and vocations to go engage in this sinister act! This is so sad.
